Transmission 3 - August 30, 2026

--------------------------------------------------- BEGIN TRANSMISSION ---------------------------------------------------------

Hello Echo Makers !

This transmission should reach our earth-based fans shortly after a beautiful lunar eclipse.  We hope it finds you well, wherever you are in the universe.  We'd like to give you a look at our present, past, and future; and say THANK YOU for joining us on our voyage!  ~ Being there is enough to make a difference.

What's happening this present lunar month?

We are knee-deep in shows this month!

Sunday, August 30 (tonight!) we will be at Brothers Lounge in the wine bar with an all woman-fronted line-up supporting Chicago-based artist Park Hills Circle (www.parkhillscirclemusic.com). You can buy tickets here.

Waterloo Arts Fest is September 12, and we’ll be playing in the Cleveland Rocks shop, along with several of our incubator-mates.  We'll be performing as a trio, with soft alternative percussion.

Then we’ll be at Brent Kirby’s 10x3 Songwriter’s Showcase on September 16th.  It’s “cover another local artist” night, and we’ve got the perfect song picked out!  Plus two originals, as always.

CLE Records is doing another show for album release season, at the Treelawn on September 20th.  This show will be documented by a crew of students from Ohio University, who are taking a field trip to Cleveland for the occasion.

And we’re thrilled to announce we’ll be playing IngenuityFest for the first time!  Ingenuity is one of the best art and music events in Cleveland, and we’re very excited to be a part of it.  Catch us on the Cryptid Cabaret Stage on Saturday, September 26th at 6:30!

What still reverberates from our past?

About a year ago, we nearly lost Lisa.  During sound check with our other band, the 80’s Ladies, she suddenly experienced an aortic dissection.  It was due to an unknown genetic variation, and no one could have predicted or prevented it.  She went to the ER, to a helicopter, to emergency open heart surgery over the course of a few hours.  It was a very long, scary night for those around her. Lisa says it wasn’t that bad, probably because she’s a badass (and she was unconscious for a lot of it).

The surgery saved her life, but of course that wasn’t the end of it.  She needed weeks to recover in the hospital, and plenty of support from skilled medical professionals and unskilled friends and bandmates.  There were lots of milestones during those first few months- lifting, driving, smoking all the grandpas at cardiac rehab, drumming, going back to work, until things were close to normal again.

Some things would stay different.  Lisa has a mechanical heart valve now, and it’s loud.  So she’s got a metronome that only she can hear, and it’s always at the wrong tempo - not ideal for a drummer.  She’s learned to work around it. She’s not allowed to lift her giant bass cabs anymore. She still could, she’s just not supposed to. In cooler news, the scar is absolutely rad.

The incident still echoes in our experience, as individuals and as a band.  We’re filled with gratitude and love for each other, especially for Lisa.  We’ve always been lucky to have her as our drummer, and now we know just how lucky we are.  A year ago, we were cancelling shows and learning more than we ever wanted to know about cardiology.  Now we’re back to full-strength live performance, we’re growing in the incubator, and we’ve recorded an album we’re incredibly proud of.  This is a great time to reflect on how far we’ve come, and how grateful we are to be on this journey together.

What future energy is being sonosynthesized in the soil?

Our Studio Album:  Fields of Frequencies is coming along nicely.  We’re in the final stages of mixing in person with our engineer, David Shaw, at SUMA.  Two songs are completely done, four are very very close, and the rest are somewhere between “pretty close” and “close-ish.”  We’ll be out in person again later this month to hopefully wrap it up!

Our self-produced EP: We recorded three songs (Mary Ann, Echo Out and Breath of Life) last spring, but had to put the project on the back burner when we got the opportunity to record at SUMA this year.  We’ve been progressing those mixes in parallel, and just sent Breath of Life out for mastering.  We intend to release those songs sometime before the end of the year.

SUMA Sessions:  We'll be back at SUMA on October 24th to record in front of a live audience (which could include YOU).  We've got big plans to make this a special event for our most serious fans.  Everyone in attendance will be invited to sing (as a group!  No need for stage fright!) the “pushing sunshine” harmonies on Mary Ann.  Then, when you get the album, you’ll be on it!  Space is limited, so please visit this link for tickets.
